John and Monica’s life involve diverse countries and cultures. John was born in Korea but raised in Brazil, South America and received his higher education in the States. Monica shares a similar background: was born in Korea but grew up in Argentina and Canada.

They were married in 1991. They have three wonderful boys, Jonathan, Elliot, and Drew. John is a graduate of International Bible College (CA). He then continued his education at Calvin Seminary (Michigan) and served among the Korean American university students and young professionals for over 16 years. And he was ordained in the year of 2000. Monica is a graduate of New York University. She then continued her training at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (Illinois) and Calvin Seminary (Michigan). Over 20 years, her main passion for life has been teaching children and teens.

They both have received Crossroad Discipleship Training School (Kona, HI) in 1997 and John has served the Student Mobilization Centre since then as a part-time staff. In the turn of 2002, the Hwangs has sensed a strong direction from the Lord to serve Him as mission mobilizers in full-time.

The Hwangs resided in Madison, WI for several years when John served as the director of Field Ministry Internships (FMI). FMI is the principal ministry of the Centre where university students and professionals integrate their majors and specialities in order to serve cross-cultural mission project in many nations.

 

In October of 2006, the Hwangs decided to obey God's call to serve nations in Latin America and made their home in Cartagena, Colombia. Their call is to mobilize university students and working professional in every nations in Latin America to serve God's purposes in their generations. For this reason, John’s work involves teaching, mobilizing and networking students and professionals both locally and internationally. He wishes to see key universities researched and  strategic gatherings are established. In the meantime, Monica is busy of adminitrating children's homeschool program and mentoring staffs.
